After a short stay in America, Michelangelo's David returned to Italy...

Actually, it looks a bit like he stayed in Brisbane.

(Thanks to Marie for sending it to me.)

Thought of the day...

Runners get injured in order to provide a source of race volunteers.

In other news... why must the post office taunt me by delivering Gold Coast Marathon entry booklets and Ultrarunning magazine?! Oh well, at least I can look at the pretty pictures :D

I hear that I am responsible for the downfall of my good friend Boonarga, because he's now addicted to Facebook.

And... someone got engaged on the weekend (but don't get excited, it wasn't me and it wasn't Steven).

Sexy boots!

Okay - not really sexy. Not at all. In fact my new walker boot is pretty damn ugly - PLUS I got recommended to not put much weight on it until the doc clears me for that. Only a few months to go...

Vale - Lance Corporal Jason Marks

Premier
The Honourable Anna Bligh

Vale - Lance Corporal Jason Marks

Premier Anna Bligh today paid tribute to Lance Corporal Jason Marks, 27, from Yeppoon, killed on a commando mission in Afghanistan overnight.

"Our thoughts and our prayers are with Jason's wife, their two children and their family," said the Premier.

Lance Corporal Jason Marks was part of the Sydney-based 4RAR commando unit.

"It is always sad when such a young life is lost. He was part of our nation's defence of freedom and he has died a hero.

"I ask that Queenslanders spare a thought for Jason and his family and also for his Army mates continuing to secure safety in Afghanistan," she said.

Thank you, friends

I've gotten quite a few messages of sympathy and support already about my foot and missing out on Western States.  The race director, my crew and pacer, my friends, and then... people that they know, who have met me once or never. Thanks so much! I'll try not to whinge about my foot anymore :D

How long?

Two months? Are you for real? NOT impressed! I have my crutches now, and will get my walker boot during the week.

Aaah, at times like these I can only be grateful that I've already had so much fun with my running and that my future will hold much more running in many beautiful places.

Possums...

So, I crashed into a possum and three weeks later I discovered I have a broken foot. And then the next day (today) Steven discovered a possum that has made a home behind a chair on our balcony.
